The Retreat

A reset week in Nosara for people who've built something โ€” or are building it โ€” and want to reconnect with how it feels.

The invitation

A small, curated week in Nosara built around connection and conversation โ€” a curated room, a curated itinerary, and the space to reconnect with how your work feels.

Not a workshop.
Not a conference.
Not a packed schedule.
A room full of the right people, and a week done well.

Our industry is craving deeper relationships and more meaningful, connected spaces. This is that: a week to reset and restore, to get inspired, and to have the business conversations that don't happen anywhere else.

Who it's for

You, if this sounds like you

For creatives, entrepreneurs and small-business owners โ€” photographers, planners, designers, makers, founders, and the people who work alongside them. You don't have to be in the wedding world; you just have to care about the work. Intentionally small, and gathered on purpose.

The setting

Nosara, the way I know it

Jungle, ocean, warm air, monkeys in the trees, and a pace slow enough to actually unplug. It's a little hard to reach โ€” and that's part of the point.

I've been coming to Nosara for over a decade, and lived here part of the year for three. This week is that insider version: a private, tranquil space, the tables you'd never find on your own, the people I'd want you to meet, the details handled. What you're paying for isn't a trip. It's the week I'd put together for my closest friends โ€” with real time and space built in to reset, to grow, and to have the kind of conversations that move your work forward.

โ€” Magi

The week

Once you're here, it's handled

Most retreats here are a room, a buffet and a yoga schedule. This isn't that. A private 12-room hotel instead of a resort. A private chef at the table instead of a buffet. Three nights at my favorite tables in town instead of dinner on your own. Eight to twelve people chosen on purpose instead of forty strangers. And mornings built for real conversation, not a timetable.

Included

  • 5 nights at Nomadic โ€” a private, tranquil space, a short walk from Playa Guiones and from town
  • Breakfast every morning, and yoga if you want it
  • Private, hosted, meaningful dinners (and a few nights out) โ€” welcome cocktails and two styled dinners at the property, wine included
  • Three nights out at the best tables in town
  • Experiences, curated around the group โ€” horseback on the beach, a surf lesson, a day on the water, a ceramics afternoon. We shape them once we know who's coming
  • Headshots by Magi
  • A curated welcome gift waiting in your room
  • All transport once you're in Nosara

On you

  • Flights to Liberia (LIR), and your transfer to Nosara โ€” we'll help coordinate a group van
  • Lunches โ€” the middle of the day is yours; recommendations provided
  • Drinks at the restaurant dinners
  • Extras if you want them: a spa afternoon, more surf, more riding โ€” easy to add

Nosara is remote and not inexpensive โ€” most things here run at U.S. prices. The week is built so that once you land, you can stop thinking about any of it.

The conversations

Real talk about the business โ€” and the person running it

Early in the week: where you are now. By the end: what's next.

Mornings start with mindfulness and movement, then the work happens, lightly: facilitated, mastermind-style conversation with people who've built something, about the things we rarely say out loud:

Pricing for profitability โ€” and raising rates without apology
Leveling up: the next version of your business, and what it costs to get there
Growing a team, or deciding not to
Saving for retirement when your income is lumpy
Burnout, and the boundaries that actually hold
Staying inspired and creative after year five, ten, fifteen
Where the market is going โ€” emerging trends, and the hot topics in our industry right now
An AI crash session โ€” how I actually use it in my workflow, mindfully, and what it's freed me up to do. Bring your questions; I'll show you mine
Legal and money hygiene: contracts, entities, the stuff that protects the dream

We'll ask what you want on the table before you arrive, and shape the mornings around it. Nothing is recorded, nobody is selling anything, and what's said in the group stays in the group.

Sarah Tilhou, our chef, at the table

At the table

Meet our private chef, Sarah

Sarah Tilhou is a private chef, a Nosara local, and a close friend โ€” the kind of cook who shops the morning market and lets the fish decide the menu. She's doing our welcome sunset drinks and two long, styled dinners at the property: local, fresh, wine open, nobody checking the time.

The other nights we go out โ€” to the tables in town that are my absolute favorites, the ones I'd call must-dos.

A proposed rhythm

Designed with rhythm, not rigidity

Mornings are slow โ€” movement, mindfulness, breakfast by the pool, and facilitated conversation: the mastermind-style talk about growing a business that only happens when nobody's rushing. Afternoons are yours or ours, with experiences curated around what the group is drawn to. Evenings are the good part.

Tuesday
Arrive, settle in. Sunset cocktails and a welcome dinner at the property.
Wednesday
A slow morning. Horseback on the beach in the afternoon.Dinner at Sendero โ€” a short walk through town.
Thursday
Surf, ceramics, or nothing at all.Dinner up in the hills at Coyol, for the sunset.
Friday
Headshots in the morning light, then an open day โ€” spa, the beach, explore.Dinner on the sand at La Luna.
Saturday
A day on the water, if the group's in โ€” or an open one.A private farewell dinner at the property.
Sunday
One last breakfast, and slow goodbyes.

This is a proposed shape, not a schedule. Nosara holds more than one week can, so we'll curate the days around the group once we know who's coming โ€” and if a few of you want to break off and do something different, that's the point.

Rooms & investment

Every room shares the same week. Only the sleep and the space change โ€” and sharing lowers your rate.

Per person. A deposit holds your room; the balance is due December 15, with a two-payment plan available. Room choices are confirmed together once you're in.

Good to know

A few details

How does joining work?

Spots are limited and the group is curated personally โ€” applying isn't a commitment. Apply below and I'll be in touch within a few days with next steps and room options.

How do I get there?

Fly into Liberia (LIR). From Newark, United flies nonstop โ€” out the morning of March 2 and home the evening of March 7 lines up perfectly with check-in and check-out. Nosara is about 2ยฝ hours from the airport; we'll coordinate a group van for everyone landing around the same time.

What if I'm coming solo?

Most guests are. The whole week is designed to make connection easy, and a shared room is a lovely way to meet someone.

What should I pack?

It's hot, casual, and beautiful. Think:

  • Sunscreen and bug spray
  • Swimsuits and a surf top or rash guard
  • A hat, sunglasses, sandals, sneakers
  • Yoga or comfy clothes for the days
  • A couple of sundresses or flowy things for dinners

No sweater, no jacket โ€” you won't need them.

Getting around?

The beach and town are each a short walk from the property. If you want to roam further, quads and golf carts rent by the day and are the local way to do it.

Is it easy to travel there?

Yes. Nosara is remote, not rough. Everyone speaks English, your usual cards work almost everywhere, and U.S. dollars are easy. There's a great pharmacy in town, and Paradise Medical in Guiones is a clinic we've used for years โ€” family, friends, all sorts of small things โ€” so you're in good hands if you need them. Once you land, the hardest part of the week is over.

Do I have to share a room?

Only if you want to. Shared is the $4,900 rate โ€” a bed in the shared room, or a queen, dual queen or king with a roommate you name (or one we pair you with, privately, closer to the date). Private queen, king and the Nest are yours alone.

When is money due?

A $2,500 deposit holds your spot and locks your rate. The balance is due December 15, in one or two payments โ€” your choice. The full terms are one click away.

Do I need insurance?

It's not required, but we strongly recommend travel insurance โ€” the kind that covers medical care abroad and trip cancellation, since the deposit and late payments are non-refundable. For everyday things, Paradise Medical in Guiones is a great local clinic we've used for years, and there's a good pharmacy in town.

What's the cancellation policy?

Our rooms are held as a group booking, so terms are firm and mirror the hotel's: the deposit is non-refundable, and amounts paid are non-refundable within 60 days of arrival. Your spot is transferable. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.

If you've been wanting to step away

Not to escape, but to recalibrate โ€” this is that.
